You will be reporting to the Director of Engineering at Geographies & Marketplace Experiences - India Technology Center, who will guide you to grow and build your career path. You will be directly working within a team of dedicated engineers that work on the same solutions. You share your experience and technical expertise such that we improve on the longer-term technical strategic direction.

You are responsible for building next generation tools and services that serve consumer ready product information to Nike experiences and back end teams. We are in the process of modernizing our entire product data platform, building scalable applications and services in the cloud. Our operations tools are used by hundreds of users across the globe to plan, prepare, and activate Nike products across multiple Nike consumer experiences.  Our product data services are being updated to unlock Omni-channel business cases, and support billions of API calls per month.  This is a team that’s always on the offense, working on innovative solutions and building world class solutions to serve Nike teams and consumers around the globe.

As a Senior Engineering Manager for the Geographies & Marketplace Experiences team, you will be part of a mission critical team focused on building a high-throughput, low-latency, fault-tolerant Order Management platform that drives Nike’s Digital transformation and growth strategies.

  • A minimum of 15+ years software development experience.

  • Minimum 5+ years of demonstrated people management experience leading large enterprise teams within a product-based organization is mandatory.

  • Experience working in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline development team environment

  • Experience working in a distributed/cloud-based environment (e.g. AWS Services, GCE, Azure etc.)

  • Experience in micro service architecture, domain driven design, and RESTful Services using Java and Spring Boot framework mandatorily.

  • Working knowledge of Java and relevant frameworks for at least 10+ years

  • Knowledge of IBM Sterling Order Management and/or other similar consumer order Management Stacks

  • Independently drive end-to-end project execution—owning design, development, cross-team coordination, and delivery

  • Demonstrate an AI-first mindset, actively leveraging AI powered developer tools (e.g., Cursor) to accelerate development and learning.

  • Experience in Test Driven development – with Junit, Mockito, cucumber, Playwright etc.,

  • Experience with observability, monitoring and tracing tools like NewRelic, Splunk, SignalFx, Kibana/Grafana etc.

  • Experience working with NoSQL data stores like DynamoDB and relational data stores like MySQL, Oracle etc.

  • Experience with continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests. Continuous delivery experience preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Scrum and agile principles.

  • Prior experience (at least 5+ years) in the Supply Chain Technology solutions in the retail/digital commerce. Have an in-depth understanding of the Order Management systems in the e-Commerce

  • Strong at estimating work, planning, organization, and implementing complex software projects.

  • Working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment with globally distributed and diverse teams

  • Demonstrate end-to-end ownership of project/capabilities that includes requirements evaluation, design, implementation, code reviews, observability, maintenance and support.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or other relevant subject area, or equivalent experience

  • Experience with CI/CD (Jenkins) and engineering hygiene: GitHub workflows (branching, PR reviews, code quality, collaboration) and release readiness

  • Observability and operational readiness using Splunk and SignalFx, including monitoring and alerting

  • Experience delivering Generative AI–based solutions or projects.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will be part of the Shared Platforms Technology Engineering team, which is responsible for building next generation tools and services that serve consumer ready product information to Nike experiences and back-end teams.

In this role, you will

  • Lead a large team of engineers delivering critical, high-impact projects aligned to Nike’s key business priorities

  • Participate in requirement gathering/elicitation, end to end solution design, development and delivery of consumer service application leveraging backend cloud native micro services

  • Architect Scalable Solutions: Define technical strategies and design highly scalable backend systems and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies on AWS.

  • Technical Leadership: Guide and mentor engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions, advocating for best practices in coding, testing, and continuous delivery.

  • Contribute ideas for new features and identifying technical areas for improvement proactively collaborating with product team members at Nike to design, develop, and deploy a highly scalable digital asset management system and services.

  • Performance Optimization: Continuously evaluate system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to support large-scale inventory operations.

  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers, Architects, and other Engineering leaders to define technical roadmaps, prioritize deliverables, and align with business goals.

  • Coach and develop the talent: Conduct regular 1:1s, provide constructive feedback and help achieve career aspirations of the team members.

  • Partners with Technical Product Management and Business Product Management to ensure outcomes are aligned with Business expectations

  • You will lead the design and implementation of full stack solutions, partnering with Product Management, UX, engineering, and business teams to solve real-world problems and deliver scalable outcomes.

  • You will translate complex business problems into practical technical solutions, balancing speed, scalability, maintainability, and user impact.

  • You will define and influence application architecture, establish reusable patterns and standards, and make sound technical decisions that improve scalability, maintainability, and performance.

  • You will contribute hands-on across the stack by building responsive frontend applications and robust backend services, while ensuring strong API contracts and system integration.

  • You will rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on solutions to validate ideas, reduce ambiguity, and accelerate delivery in evolving problem spaces.

  • You will drive solution deployment in ambiguous environments, navigating changing requirements, cross-functional dependencies, and operational constraints to deliver measurable outcomes.

  • You will drive engineering excellence through code reviews, design reviews, mentoring, testing discipline, observability, and continuous improvement practices.

  • You will proactively identify opportunities for modernization, innovation, and solution improvements by staying current with industry trends, tools, and architectural best practices.

  • You will use your in-depth experience in software development to write clean, tested, and well-documented code, as well as perform peer code review process and mentor other engineers on the team.

  • You will remain current with industry trends and participate in development of key innovation features.

  • You will support the team’s agile practices, promoting continuous improvement and collaboration to deliver top-notch consumer experiences at scale.

  • Leverage GenAI powered capabilities (RAG, prompt driven workflows, MCP and spec driven architectures) to deliver faster, scalable, intelligent capabilities & experiences

  • Ensure quality of the code and products throughout the entire development lifecycle (DevOps) 

  • Ensure continuous improvement in performance, scalability, extensibility, reliability, usability, and availability of the platform

  • Leverage agile methodology concepts for quality, delivery and continuous improvement

  • Participate in sprint planning and other scrum ceremonies. Help team plan and execute sprint tickets

  • Work in full DevOps model in the entire tech stack including designing, implementing, deploying, monitoring, and operating services at scale

  • Resolve technical issues and remove blockers for the team

  • Actively participate in code review and feedback for other developers

  • Own build, test, release, and production support for team‑owned capabilities, ensuring stability, incident resolution, and continuous improvement

  • Implement strong observability and operational readiness using Splunk and SignalFx, including monitoring and alerting
