WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
This role is part of Nike Japan Planning team, reporting to the Nike Japan Nike Direct Digital Commerce (NDDC) Planning Director and closely work with the Marketplace Unit.
This role will also closely work with cross-functional teams such as Merchandising team to get Pre-season assortment insight, Lead Business Planner to confirm pre, in, and post-season guidance, Operations to confirm deliveries, Inventory Operations to evaluate excess/short inventory positions.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
This role will lead pre-season depth planning as well as in and post season activities related to Nike .COM/APP digital business. We’re looking for a person who can demonstrate strong leadership to enable growth of Nike Japan. This role is accountable to be an objective partner to Marketplace Unit (MPU) teams to drive clear, thoughtful, fact-based business decisions. Understand product, marketplace, insights and marketing strategies to inform demand and inventory forecasts. Collaborate with key cross functional stakeholders on pre-season and in-season risks & opportunities. Cultivate an end-to-end process improvement mindset to optimize ways of working. Minimum 6 years’ experience in Buying, Planning, Allocation and/or Vendor Sales for a multi-store retailer or Assortment Planning experience with other apparel/ footwear wholesale organization.
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
Comprehensive understanding of retail math, including gross margin profitability planning.
Strong and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and influence others.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office applications; high proficiency in Excel, including creating spreadsheets, advanced formulas, pivot tables, etc.
Strong oral and written communication skills (in both English and Japanese).
Experience in developing an understanding of customers, competitors and retail trends; knowledge of sports apparel and footwear market preferred.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
You will influence and drive alignment on seasonal assortment plan for Nike .COM/APP, providing your expertise based on consumer behavior, trends and marketing activities.
Key daily responsibilities include:
Providing detailed seasonal analysis based on actual sales results to be used for future seasonal financial planning.
Monthly creation and management of stock & sales plan for key franchises, providing inventory outlook used for future buying decision(s).
Develop and finalize pre-season assortment plan at style-color-size level and key franchise level across footwear, apparel, and equipment to maximize revenue, drive margin performance and optimize inventory.
Deliver weekly sales performance updates, highlighting key drivers of positive and negative results along with recommended action plans.
Drive in-season promotions, pricing and markdowns, and inventory cancel/chase actions in alignment with cross-MPU inventory flow.
Cultivate end-to-end process optimization by fostering a continuous improvement mindset to enhance operational efficiency.
