WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You will collaborate with internal and external teams to develop and enhance environmental compliance tools for assessing adherence to standards by facilities. As a subject matter expert on compliance assessment tools, you will work with the Environment team as well as the Responsible Supply Chain deployment team. You will also engage with tech teams, data teams, facility managers, and others to continuously improve our environmental compliance programs. Additionally, you will participate in industry collaborations focused on environmental assessment tool progress and convergence.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a candidate with extensive experience in environmental compliance, particularly in developing and implementing assessment tools. Further experience in social compliance is preferred. They should possess strong technical skills, be capable of managing large data sets, and have experience delivering software processing capabilities in collaboration with platform providers. Success in this role will require excellent communication skills across multiple stakeholders, the ability to work cross-functionally, and the capacity to influence various cultures and leadership levels. The candidate should be skilled at collaborating within industry groups to achieve results that improve tools and promote convergence across the industry.

The candidate will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Chemistry, Science, Math, Engineering or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training

  • 6+ years in environmental sustainability and compliance management, with further experience in social compliance, preferred

  • Prior experience within apparel and/or footwear supply chain

  • Strong quantitative and analytical problem-solving skills

  • Attention to detail, follow-through, and self-motivation

  • Expertise in setting program goals and managing timelines

  • High sense of responsibility and ethics

  • Excellent oral and technical writing skills

  • Program management and process improvement skills

  • Experience working with diverse groups

  • Proven industry collaboration and work with technology providers

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

In this position, you will serve as the program lead for our environmental compliance assessment programs and support the social compliance program. Your responsibilities will include developing and operationalizing our strategy to ensure environmental compliance at facilities and acting as the subject matter expert on compliance assessment tools. You will devise new approaches to adapt to the evolving compliance landscape, oversee the annual updates of the tools, and provide the necessary training support. This work will be carried out in collaboration with experts in environmental and social impact areas, as well as deployment teams working directly with facilities. Additionally, you will engage with industry organizations and technology platform providers to advance and implement the tools.

On any given day you will work on:

  • Develop environmental and social compliance tools like the Higg Facility Environmental Module (FEM), Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Wastewater, and support the Converged Assessment Framework (CAF) by SLCP to assess facilities

  • Collaborate with experts for tool development

  • Partner with platforms like Worldly and Fair Factory Clearing House (FFC) for implementation

  • Work with teams to deploy tools

  • Provide expertise on compliance management

  • Present updates to business stakeholders and supply chain facilities

  • Train teams and facilities on compliance programs

  • Advance work within industry collaborations like Cascale and ZDHC
