WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
As a Lead Software Engineering-Automation, you'll play a key role in designing and delivering automation-driven solutions to streamline business processes and improve operational efficiency. You’ll work on well-defined problems, lead solution design, and drive execution end-to-end—with minimal supervision.
You will work across teams finding appropriate use cases for Automation. This will require internal marketing & people skills.
You’ll collaborate with architects, product owners, and fellow engineers to build scalable, secure, and performant solutions while mentoring junior teammates and sharing best practices across the organization.
You will be a part of the larger Global Technology organization working on Nike’s Automation Engineering team
You’ll be working on building products and solutions for managing and governing Nike’s Automation ecosystem, to drive organizational technical priorities, define engineering best practices, collaborate with peers, and help to translate business problems into technical solutions.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a Lead Software Engineering-Automation as part of our ITC Automation COE team at Nike. The ideal candidate will be a servant leader, bringing deep technical expertise in Automation to solve complex engineering problems to enable Nike’s pursuit to deliver state of the art Automation to run Nike’s business and support our athletes. We need a dynamic candidate who can work across domains/teams and has a go getter attitude. Prior experience in digging out opportunities, working with diverse teams/people is a bonus.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
Key Responsibilities
Design scalable solutions for well-defined business challenges with minimal guidance
Lead development and delivery of technical solutions that meet business needs and align with Nike’s architectural standards
Analyze system performance and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and scalability
Guide and mentor junior developers through code reviews and technical discussions
Drive knowledge-sharing across the team through learning sessions, deep dives, and retrospectives
Take full ownership of features and solutions spanning 2–3 sprint cycles
Contribute to innovation by facilitating brainstorming and crowdsourcing of new ideas
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
7-12 years of relevant software development experience
Evangelize automation
Working with other developers, designers, and stakeholders to implement strategic business initiatives and troubleshoot issues
Technologies like "GenAI, AIOps, React.js/Angular, D3.js/ Chart.js, Node.js, Vue.js, HTML5, CSS3, JS, REST API, databases like SQL Server, Python, API Integration, middleware, Git, MSSQL experience, Python"
Technologies like "GenAI, AIOps, Breadth of technologies, across programming, AI, Azure, RESTful API design principles, Python (Flask or Django), Redis, SQL, TensorFlow/PyTorch for deep learning models, Machine Learning, Kubernetes, Dockers, Git, PyCharm, SSL/TLS for secure communication, OWASP principles for web application security"
Utilizing Git and platforms like GitHub or GitLab to manage and track code changes
Hands-on experience implementing and supporting modern software architectural principles and patterns (REST, domain-driven design, Devops, microservices, etc.)
Experience with front-end web application technologies (JavaScript, CSS, html5, React, other UI Frameworks etc.)
Experience with implementing and integrating AI, Machine Learning, GenAi, AI Ops and related data solutions preferred.
Experience working in a technical leadership role with agile teams in a product model
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with multiple peers and cross-functional partners
Proven experience delivering complex enterprise business process automation solutions
Knowledge of scripting languages such as Node.js or Python with proven expertise in enterprise software development
Hands-on expertise in Automation Anywhere A360 platform, Power Platform, and other automation platforms.
Proven experience delivering complex enterprise business process automation solutions
Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Node.js or Python, AIOps, GenAI use cases
Lead the intake, prioritization, and management of RPA opportunities.
Oversee the entire bot development lifecycle (new features and enhancements), from ideation through deployment, ensuring best practices are followed at each stage.
Establish and enforce governance policies and best practices for bot lifecycle to ensure compliance, scalability, and sustainability.
Set the teams’ strategic roadmap
Develop medium to long term financial and resource management plans for the team and ensure operational effective
Establish structures and processes for efficient, compliant operations
Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to convey complex technical discussions to a non-technical audience
Solid experience working with APIs and databases
Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and modern development practices
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive outcomes
Reviews and approves code developed by bot configurators and validate from the perspective of optimization and cost benefit
Pro-actively identify and report improvements for the service
Act as gatekeeper for any bot that is deployed in production. (from UAT stage till Go-Live)
Partnership with Developers, external automation teams during the Bot development life cycle and Ensures Bot configurators are adopting best practice (e.g. coding standards, policies, security)
Demand Delivery of client machines to support the Accelerated process
Create/Review/Maintain technical documentation, including the Solution Design Document.
Work collaboratively with Product Owners and Business Teams during test phases and UAT to test, debug and overcome issues.
Participate in and contribute to deployment activities inclusive of Pre and Post release activities.
Working with databases (SQL or NoSQL) to store and retrieve data
Knowledge of SAP automation preferred
DevOps - Automated CI/CD pipeline for the platform
Support in Proof of concept, build Platform core capability pilots – IQBots and AARI “human in loop” Use cases
Support/coordinate with Central COE team during VDI configuration, Platform issues, control room management (License, Role, Access, Users, Bot insights etc)
Support Test case review, system/integration testing
Support any technical issues in production Bots, triage and enable quick closure of issues on high priority
Documentation for COE set up (for eg. Code review checklist, guide for control room management, development guidelines etc).
Best practice sharing, Error handling and able to support in exceptions handling
Understanding of the RPA, process mining and agentic process automation landscape
Solid experience working with APIs and databases
Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and modern development practices
Experience in Python, Databricks, ML Flow, DS Pie, Fullstack development
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive outcomes
Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
Good to have candidates with industry relevant certification (VMWare, Windows, AWS, Automation Anywhere Platform management, UI Path, Blue prism, etc.,)
ITIL Foundation Certified will be an advantage
