The annual base salary for this position ranges from $119,400.00 in our lowest geographic market to $267,500.00 in our highest geographic market. Actual salary will vary based on a candidate's location, qualifications, skills and experience.

POSITION LOCATION

This position can be remotely-based in the US. Preferred remote locations include the Bay Area and other West Coast / Pacific Time locations.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Search Platform Team is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to drive key Nike priorities. This Lead Software Engineer will work in Java (Spring / Spring Boot), Elasticsearch, AWS, RESTful APIs, and be experienced in CI/CD pipelines. This Lead Engineer will also be an experienced mentor to junior members of this team and be able to communicate effectively across multiple cross-functional teams.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • Successful candidate will make key contributions and be part of our global team, delivering on key business objectives
  • Integrate search platforms with AI/ML models and execute A/B tests against them to evaluate the models 
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager and build relationships across the business  
  • Lead pilots and collaborate with other technology owners
  • Build partnerships across Nike
  • Coach the engineering team to deliver best in class software solutions  

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

As a Lead Engineer, you will join a team of engineers, scrum masters, and product owners to envision and deliver robust applications and services that bring Nike omni-channel solutions to the next level.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or Master’s) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar field, or relevant professional experience, education, and training
  • At least 10 years of software development experience
  • Ability to write robust code in Java with Spring Boot/Webflux 
  • Experience in microservice architecture, domain driven design (DDD), and RESTful APIs 
  • Hands-on experience designing and optimizing ElasticSearch/Open Search query components
  • Hands-on experience working in a distributed/cloud-based environment (AWS) with high transaction volumes 
  • Experience with Spring framework and Spring Boot 
  • Proven foundation in data structures, algorithms, and architecture patterns 
  • Ability to define solutions, provide estimates of effort and risk, and evaluate technical feasibility 
  • Experience driving technical decisions and solutions in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline development team environment  
  • Proficient with modern build strategies, continuous integration, unit testing, and automated integration tests 
  • Working knowledge of Scrum and Agile principles 
  • Proven self-starter who can work in a complex collaborative environment that rewards experiments, initiative, curiosity, and mentoring
