WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As the Environment, Health & Safety Manager, you will report to the Director, Environment, Health & Safety at Nike North America Supply Chain (NASC) and you will work with distribution center teammates, management, and extended EHS team and leadership in a collaborative environment.
WHAT YOU BRING
This position is responsible for monitoring State, Federal and Local regulations to ensure Nike is actively involved in emerging issues and poised to address new and modified regulations. Additionally, the Health and Safety Manager supports all site management teams as well with all Health and Safety related requirements. This position is part of a larger global EHS and Resilience team at Nike.
5+ years practical experience with health and safety compliance at a large global company with world class safety programs. Distribution center experience is a plus.
Ability to communicate to all levels of employees in a clear, concise and persuasive manner
Ability to work effectively in teams as well as independently
Exceptional organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
Detailed knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and their state equivalents as well as other applicable industry environmental, health, and safety standards.
Demonstrated ability to write, develop and implement all facets of successful and sustainable EHS programs.
Demonstrated ability to manage a team of 3-4 direct reports.
Proficiency in conducting root cause safety investigations.
Demonstrated ability to manage EHS data and related documents and compliance records.
Demonstrated teamwork and ability to develop relationships at all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing and train personnel live and by use of computer-based systems.
Bachelors or Master’s degree with an emphasis on EHS curriculum preferred.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
Manages the direction and execution of EHS programs and policies.
Engage actively and daily with distribution operations with a focus on hazard recognition, safety observations and coaching.
Support all aspects of incident oversight including response, reporting, investigation, root cause analysis, identification of corrective and preventative action, and publication of safety alerts as required.
Maintains a current working knowledge of EHS regulations and laws. Provide technical and regulatory compliance expertise and support.
Continuously drives improvement in health and safety measures.
Assist in drafting, preparing required plans and appropriate facility operating procedures.
Serves as facility contact for federal, state, and regional health, safety, and environmental agencies.
Support and facilitate internal inspections, audits, and self-assessments. Assists operations in addressing audit recommendations.
Ability to work after normal business hours and/or weekends based on business needs.
