The Greater China Responsible Supply Chain team is responsible for bringing to life NIKE’s “Move to Zero” sustainability mission – our journey to a zero carbon, zero waste future – and ensuring our distribution center facilities are in alignment with our foundational expectations across labor, health, and safety. The scope of Greater China Responsible Supply Chain is focused on moving NIKE’s finished product from factory to consumers across mainland China, HK and TW in a way that is convenient, cost effective, and sustainable for our consumers. The Greater China Responsible Supply Chain team is responsible for setting the strategy, cross-functionally partnering both internally and externally to execute, developing and reporting on metrics and targets, and ensuring Greater China Responsible Supply Chain supports NIKE’s sustainability commitments.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Sustainability Manager for the Greater China Responsible Supply Chain team to lead across carbon, waste, and workforce resilience to support NIKE’s overall Move to Zero sustainability strategy and 2030 sustainability targets. For Greater China Responsible Supply Chain to be successful in achieving our targets, sustainability actions and information must be elevated, communicated in alignment with business actions, and integrated into decision making.

This role requires a balanced individual with the ability to drive discussions with various cross-functional stakeholders, see opportunities, and guide innovative solution development. It requires a system-level problem solver who can see how diverse parts can fit together to create consumer impact and deliver on our sustainability commitments. This individual will need to be comfortable presenting at the senior leadership level, being a strong collaborator and mentor, interpreting performance information, and being a champion for sustainability.

We are seeking an individual who is self-motivated, impact-driven, and passionate about their work. This requires a dedication to responsible business practices, driving science based climate targets, and the urgency this drives for access to sport. This individual must be a flexible thinker and an outstanding communicator who is comfortable working cross-functionally and influencing different personalities and perspectives. Analysis needs to be communicated through creative, visually compelling, and data-driven storytelling to explain how actions impact performance. This individual must also quickly form professional relationships with colleagues.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

As the Sustainability Manager for the Greater China Responsible Supply Chain team, your key responsibilities will be to deploy initiatives across carbon, waste, and workforce resilience, as well drive the integration of Responsibility into Greater China Operation through performance management, creating shared accountability, and developing effective communication.

A typical day or week would include partnering across stakeholder groups – extended cross-functional geography & business partners and Responsible Supply Chain subject matter experts – to understand needs and requirements to drive action and decisions to support meeting our 2030 sustainability targets, our sustainability strategy, and continually embedding sustainability accountability and culture. You may tackle a project manager role for smaller initiatives, or partner with a dedicated project manager on larger initiatives. You will partner and connect with the Responsible Supply Chain team to understand globally driven initiatives, and with Greater China Operation teams to under locally driven initiatives, and act as a connector for shared findings to accelerate progress toward targets.

On a quarterly basis, you will set and measure objectives and key results for your area of focus. You will provide written input to and/or engage with various leadership forums to educate teams on Responsibility initiatives purpose and progress.

On an annual basis, you will support evaluating performance against plans for the prior year and adjustment of the portfolio for the upcoming year. You will partner across functions to develop business cases and financial models for proposed initiatives.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

Key partners in this role will be other teams within Greater China Operations and Logistics, including Supply Chain Innovation, Transportation, Marketplace Operations, Performance Management, etc.. This role will also require cross-functional partnership of teams outside of Greater China Operations and Logistics who have an impact on Greater China Operations and Logistics sustainability performance, including Responsible Supply Chain, Product Supply Chain, Communications, Nike Direct, Marketing, Branding, etc.

This role will also interact will external partners as needed to drive sustainability outcomes, including governmental entities, research institutes, operation & logistics vendors, solution developers, peer companies, and industry groups.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations, Supply Chain, Environmental Science, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience (3 years with master’s degree) in operations, logistics, planning, sustainability or ESG.
  • Clear understanding of product flows in the supply chain
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel
  • Proven interest and experience in sustainability
  • Analytically strong, detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Experience in translation of business goals into quantitative metrics and reporting
  • High tolerance for ambiguity
  • Ability to drive results and thrive in a highly matrixed, cross-functional, cross-cultural, and complex organization
  • Ability to collaborate with key partners to understand/identify requirements, drive knowledge into action, and support data driven decision making
  • Ability to explain complex topics in a visually engaging and compelling manner to a variety of audiences
  • Strong relationship-building, facilitation, and influencing skills; ability to create trust among those with diverse personal styles
  • Proven ability to think creatively, recognize new business opportunities, understand new technologies, and communicate ideas
  • Proven track record of being a change agent
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin speaking and writing.
