WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
This role sits within the Integrated Retail Marketing Japan team and reports directly to the Director of Integrated Retail Marketing. It leads Visual Merchandising for Nike Direct Stores, delivering Nike-only retail experiences and services. The role partners closely with the Retail Brand & Experience team to sharpen the in-store consumer journey and elevate retail brand elements.
Key internal partners include teams across Integrated Retail Marketing, Brand Management, Digital Marketing, Nike Direct Stores Headquarter in Japan, Nike Direct Stores Partner, Planning and Supply Chain. This role also works with colleagues across the Asia-Pacific Latin America (APLA) geography. External partners include agencies, suppliers, and vendors.

- Minimum of 5 or 6 years of experience in Visual Merchandising.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher education.
- High interest or background in sport, youth culture, sneakers, fashion and streetwear.
- Problem Solving: Able to solve complex problems using limited information and implement solutions with future implications in mind. Works with non-routine information and develops recommendations to gain alignment and approval of ideas or services.
- Leadership: Accountable for achieving short to medium-term goals that impact the team or department. Responsible for performance management, compensation, and resourcing decisions for direct reports.
- Domestic travel required at least once a month to visit agency partners and Nike Direct stores. Occasional international travel may be required depending on business needs.
- Strong oral and written communication skills (in both English and Japanese).
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
You’ll lead the seasonal planning and execution of Visual Merchandising for Nike Direct Stores -bringing both seasonal and evergreen brand stories to life, with your impact measured by the strength of our brand, the depth of consumer engagement, and the growth of Nike Direct inline business.
- Manages small teams, projects, and/or mid-size external partners within established functional practices.
- Implement and execute strategies that drive business results across a larger team or multiple smaller teams.
- Develop and execute strategies to promote products and services to Nike Direct Stores, supporting business growth through analysis, market research and in-store visits.
- Create compelling visual display strategies that enhance brand recognition and drive sales- ensuring alignment with promotions, seasonal campaigns, product launches, and brand standards.
- Program seasonal Visual Merchandising direction for Nike Direct inline stores 4-5 times per year, and codevelop strategic plans for new store openings in collaboration with APLA.
- Support the production of in-store signage and graphics led by the Retail Brand & Experience team.
- Deliver regular Visual Merchandising training programs for Direct Store Athletes to elevate in-store execution.
- Collaborate with Nike Direct inline and Value stores to execute cross-channel projects and seasonal storytelling.
