You’ll work with Nike UK’ & Ireland’s Communications team in London, crafting innovative stories that strengthen authentic connections through sport and innovation. The team builds brand reputation, engages diverse audiences, from consumers and media to athletes and employees - and focuses on inspiring,
informing, and connecting to accelerate Nike’s growth.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We seek a Senior Professional, Media Relations, UK with extensive Communications experience and strong knowledge of the UK media and creator landscape. Expertise in in UK sport and fitness sector, as well as its influence on sportswear, style, and culture, are essential.
The right candidate has several years of experience creating and driving internal and external communications strategies within the sportswear industry, is a highly collaborative team player who exhibits critical, creative and solution-oriented thinking and can manage multiple, competing priorities. A strong strategic instinct, with the ability to access and apply knowledge of consumer and media insights, trends, and intelligence related to sports style and the fitness industry are imperative. A culturally curious and open to growth mindset is a must.
We are looking for a self-starter, with proven experience in identifying new opportunities / space and turning them into breakthrough communication strategies and tactics. You will demonstrate strong agility by actively embracing change, identifying effective solutions, and proactively addressing challenges to achieve our objectives.
The position is based in London, UK and is a full-time contract, ideally starting in May 2026.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
You will be responsible for developing and executing communications strategies and innovative storytelling tactics that build Nike’s image as the leader in sports, focusing on the brand’s Training products and UK fitness communities. You will also lead Employee Communications for Nike UK & Ireland. While the main focus of this role will be Training and Employee Communications you may occasionally work on other sports.
You will:
- Craft and execute UK specific mid-and long-term strategic communications plans, deliver end-to-end project management of narrative-led campaigns and stories that create impact and push the boundaries of communications.
- Pursue opportunities that expand the brand into new areas, especially within UK fitness communities at the intersection of sport and style.
- Be an architect of a new media / medium network for UK that serves and engages the next generation of athletes.
- Build influence with key internal and external partners, confidently present plans, and effectively position the Comms function to highlight its business impact.
- Collaborate with key opinion leaders across UK media and social platforms using your advanced network.
- Keep up to date with emerging trends in fashion, design, film, art, media and technology.
- Handle issues to safeguard company and brand reputation.
- Lead and deliver major UK communications initiatives in sports and culture.
- Design and oversee employee engagement events and messaging, working in close partnership with the Nike UK and Ireland Leadership Team.
You will work with the Nike UK Communications team, reporting into the Senior Director, Communications, UK and have close touchpoints to the EMEA Consumer, Product & Brand Communications (CPB) and EMEA Employee Communications teams - located at the European Headquarters as well as with the EMEA Corporate Communications Director. Furthermore, you will be responsible for seeking strategic synergies within the wider Nike UK team e.g. Marketing and Sports Marketing.
The role involves managing external relationships with media, platforms, content creators and coordinating with agency partners.
Qualifications:
- Extensive and long-standing experience in external corporate communications or public relations roles supporting (global) sports / eminent organizations
- Strong media relations network and skillset to drive corporate and brand storytelling at senior editorial and publisher executive level, with a dedicated focus on the UK social and traditional media and non-governmental landscape
- Deep knowledge about current and evolving social media and sports platforms, tools and technologies and their effective use to resonate with Gen Z
- Profound understanding of the intersection of sport and fashion, streetwear and broader culture within the UK and beyond
- Professional experience and keen understanding of the sphere of influence of UK fitness communities
- Successful experience in developing and executing strategic communications plans, that deliver narrative-led storytelling and consumer engagement with a variety of key audiences and stakeholders, both external and internal
- Employee communications experience
- Excellent and effective communicator of ideas, concepts and plans, with the ability to influence across a complex matrix on a functional and local basis
- Strong end-to end project management skills, including strategic planning, creative ideation, execution, budgeting, and agency management
- Experience with software tools such as Keynote, Word, PowerPoint, Slack, ideally also familiar with data-insights driven tools as well as Workvivo.
- Ability to Travel, 10-20%.
