WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Bowerman Footwear Lab (BFL) is a one-stop shop for Creation, Collaboration, and Education for the greater Nike Footwear community. We’re looking for a Principal FW Molded Component Engineering Technician, passionate about athletic footwear that hits the highest performance and sustainable manufacturing standards. A successful candidate will be able to perform in a fast-paced matrixed organization within the BFL. The ideal candidate is an engineering technician motivated to continually grow and learn with an innovative mindset. We are looking for a strong team player who is proficient multi-tasker who can work on multiple processes simultaneously.
- Someone who is a self-starter who identifies process improvements and suggests innovative solutions. Must adapt quickly to changing project needs
- A strong critical thinker with analytical skills for process evaluation and improvement, as well as a focus on project management and teamwork.
- Someone who is comfortable in a hands-on environment with basic knowledge of E2E footwear creation, R&D process engineering, and small-scale manufacturing.
Additional requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience or training
- A minimum of 3 years directly relevant work experience
- Engineering or Technical Degree in a related field or minimum of 3 years direct experience
- Proven experience working in a fast-paced low-volume manufacturing environment with familiarity in processing materials such as Plastic, Foams, Polyurethane, Rubber, and Composites
- Effective project management skills, including experience with related software (e.g. Miro Airtable)
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and comfort operating in ambiguity
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
As a Principal FW Molded Component Engineering Technician, you will be an essential member of the Molded Component Center (MCC). Critical to supporting the overall strategy of the Bowerman Footwear Lab and MCC. In this role, you will be relied upon to oversee maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of our machinery, guaranteeing the reliability of our manufacturing operations including:
- Lead Project Execution: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate high-level project goals into actionable steps, drive successful project completion, and troubleshoot mechanical issues in conjunction with the BFL maintenance team.
- Technical Expertise: Utilize expertise in processing plastics, rubber, composites, and foams in a footwear manufacturing environment to provide high-quality molded components supporting the footwear creation process.
- Communication and Documentation: Communicate standard technical information and/or operating procedures to stakeholders, and document operating procedures, project close-out, and key learnings throughout project lifecycles.
