At Nike, the Global Brand Communications team curates and amplifies the company’s narrative—building powerful relationships, influence, and opportunities through storytelling and experience that help Nike reach new audiences, expand brand perception and grow the Women’s Sportswear Business.  

 

The role will report into the Senior Director, Global Sportswear and Energy Communications, and help lead, redefine, cultivate and develop expressions of sport and style for our women’s sportswear consumer that permeate culture in new and inventive ways. The output of this work should ignite purposeful conversations around Nike’s most powerful stories and help foster and build creative networks. The individual will work closely with all sport areas of the Global Communications team and with a highly matrixed and cross-functional group across the following areas: Brand Marketing, Athlete, Entertainment, Legal and Sports Marketing. 

 
 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

 

The Principal, Global Women’s Sportswear Communications must have a passion for sport and sport culture, an ability to deliver new ways of thinking, and a desire to deepen and evolve Nike's relationship with media and consumers. The individual should also be proactive, creative, and capable of thinking through problems and presenting solutions. Being culturally curious, having an eye for design and trend, and an appreciation and understanding of popular culture is a must. This person will also be responsible for driving a forward-looking approach to our communications strategies to leverage the ever-changing media and highly engaged consumer landscape.  

 
We are looking for an individual with the ability to expand the boundaries of communications and define the future of women’s sportswear, and who can connect, influence and deliver new levels of creative and strategic thinking. 

 

The ideal candidate needs: 

  • Bachelor's degree in degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field is preferred. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training  

  • 10+ years in in-house brand communications, media relations, or PR agency, ideally within a global company. 

  • Deep knowledge of street and lifestyle culture and its intersection of sport 

  • Proven ability to communicate plans across a complex matrix to influence cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders. 

  • Experience initiating and driving the ideation process to contribute meaningful, innovative strategies to the business at concept stage. 

  • High aptitude for creative thinking balanced against bottom line business needs.  

 

 

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON 

Our work encompasses written, visual and digital communication. We focus on information and connection - what is created, how it is managed, distributed and consumed to accelerate the growth to our sportswear business.   

 

  • You will be building and driving communications strategies that builds energy, connection, and inspires our geographies to story tell in new ways. 

  • Own the global communications strategy for Nike Sportswear with a sharp focus on the women’s business, defining messaging and seasonal story architecture  

  • Develop and execute storytelling strategies across earned media, creators, speaking engagements to maximize reach and impact.  

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and seasonal forecaster on women’s style trends, new media behaviors to inform strategic decisions   

  • Lead stakeholder alignment across product, brand, sports marketing, retail, and geographies to deliver cohesive communications plans.  

  • Design and oversee global event strategies, including product launches, ensuring long-term and short-term strategic objectives are met.  

  • Manage budgets and allocate resources to deliver high-impact storytelling and activations.  

  • Oversee agency ecosystems, setting scopes, creative direction, and best in class standards.
