The NXT Footwear Team works to invent and create performance driven technologies, product concepts and platforms for our product creation teams. We are seeking a Principal Footwear Developer who has a strong background in innovative thinking and complex problem solving with a positive mindset.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
You will report to one of the NXT Program Directors with no direct reports. You will have an opportunity to collaborate with many functions including: NXT Design, Athlete Concepts, Materials Innovation, Product Testing, Future Capabilities, E&M, NXT Asia, Cushioning Innovation and NSRL. Additionally you will partner with Dimension team members in blended teams and during program transitions.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The person in this position will be responsible for leading new footwear projects across all NXT phases of development and be able to deal with ambiguity working in a dynamic, results-oriented environment. These project teams include people from many different functions within and outside of NXT and have a broad impact on the business. This role is also responsible for transitioning projects to our Product Creation teams in the Dimensions.
They need to be curious, collaborative, able to look at problems from many different perspectives, and must be able to build on ideas with others to come up with solutions. They should have a Maker mindset, the ability to build or facilitate the build of prototype samples, and a strong understanding of footwear construction and manufacturing.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s Degree in Product Development, Design, Engineering, or a related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training
- 8+ years of experience in product or technology project management or equivalent experience
- Experience creating action from athlete insights
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and work in a dynamic, results-oriented environment
- Create long range project plans and action driven short term planning
- Experience with hands on making: mocking up samples, building proto-types
- Demonstrated skills in advancing projects through explore and discovery phases and across multiple footwear dimensions and product types
- Demonstrated skills at leading and inspiring teams of highly specialized and qualified individuals with diverse expertise
- Ability to effectively communicate complex topics and concepts to a wide and diverse technical and non-technical audience
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
You will be empowered to lead and project manage multiple footwear projects at one time across a diverse selection of product types. Each project will have multiple work-streams, each with it’s own timelines and functional resources. You will be responsible for creating the project plans and keeping the team on track to meet those timelines. Additionally you will keep the Program Director and NXT leadership up to date with the progress of the project; including resources that are needed, potential risks, and project readiness.
