WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

You will report into the Global Apparel Materials Team (GLAM) and support our partners in seasonal color developments including key collaborations with Color Design, Design, Product Managers, Technical Development, Global Product Creation Centers, and Product Risk Engineering. You will be an integral part of the Color Development community and will be a mentor and an expert resource to others.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Color Developer to join our Global Apparel Materials team. The right candidate will use their knowledge of textiles, colorfastness testing, apparel, and industry coloration methods to approve lab dips on time for commercialization while maintaining color quality. In addition, a strong understanding of digital color measurement is important to be able to guide vendors on color achievability concerns and lead projects to innovate the digital future for color at Nike. To succeed in this role, the candidate should have a strong drive to improve systems and processes, mentor, and positively lead and influence the teams.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel, Textiles, or a related field or equivalent combination or education, experience or training
  • Minimum 3+ years color, textile, or product development experience
  • Team player attitude and strength in building positive working relationships
  • Expertise in dye methods and colorfastness risks
  • Strong understanding of digital color review, with the ability to review, approve, and communicate with the vendor on color using digital data only
  • Knowledge of contributing factors to color achievability and colorfastness concerns to communicate with cross functional partners on testing issues, work with vendor on colorfastness failures, and mentor team
  • Knowledge of textile and yarn construction, fiber dyeing characteristics, fabric finishing
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills including meeting facilitation and presentations
  • Experience communicating and collaborating with global partners
  • Proactive problem solving and information seeking-skills
  • Ability to build a strategic plan/roadmap around key projects and execute to completion
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to move with agility through ambiguity 
  • Able to pass the Munsell Hue color test to determine visual color acuity 
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group 

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

You will use your color knowledge and collaboration skills to execute the seasonal color direction and will be responsible for on-time approvals for buy ready commercialization. You will collaborate with Textile Development, Color Design, and Product Risk Engineering to proactively analyze potential risks and create a mitigation plan. Your ability to build strong relationships and technical expertise in color development will aid you in mentoring teammates, onboarding new hires, and implementing/sharing best practices. These skills will also enable you to establish close working relationships with your cross-functional partners. You will contribute to the establishment of new processes for digital color review. Researching new innovations, especially in digital color, will allow you to contribute to or lead projects to establish new processes.
