Senior Concept Creator – NIKE, Inc. - Beaverton, OR. Define and communicate product details, features, construction requirements, and critical equipment and design criteria to NIKE design, development and production partners as new techniques and process are explored and transitioned from concept innovation to commercialization; provide breakthrough ideas in collaboration with NIKE Innovation partners; translate design inspirations into a 3-dimentional product, through collaboration with core innovation teams; create superior level concepts primarily for footwear; fabricate and assemble new research and development concepts utilizing all resources and equipment on hand within the Concept Creation Center, including laser, embroidery, stitching, assembly, digital printing, digital cutting, and customized tools; anticipate development and creation issues, and suggest alternative construction methods; provide feedback on material choices, construction methods, file types, and adhesion alternatives; work with multi-disciplinary teams including all product creation and manufacturing pillars; interact with pattern engineering, innovation, in-line brand, specialty customization, in-house manufacturing, and overseas factory research and development centers; work with footwear pattern engineering, cutting, stitching and assembly processes and operations; work with product construction concepts including pattern engineering, costing and quality implications, model making, part drawings, two dimensional drafting documents, materials, design for manufacturing, and sustainability awareness; work with product design and Nike product processes; provide technical guidance and support to program teams and management/leadership in the field of footwear design and prototyping; and guide and mentor junior team members, helping them develop their prototyping skills. Telecommuting is available from anywhere in the U.S., except from AK, AL, AR, DE, HI, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MT, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, OH, OK, RI, SD, VT, WV, and WY.
Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Fine Arts, or Graphic Design and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or a design-related occupation.
Experience must include the following:
2D modeling software Illustrator
Providing technical guidance
Utilizing project management tools in Excel
Position also requires one (1) year of experience in the following:
Footwear prototyping including creating, designing, and evaluating
Footwear design and manufacturing including construction, model creation in 2D
Shoemaking tool operation including sewing machines, and hot presses
Shop tool operation such as grinders, band saws, and Dremel tools
3D Printing including 3D CAD modeling, generating G code, and initiating the printing process
2D to 3D Pattern conversion using CAD software
Shoe assembly including all components using both traditional methods and innovative techniques
Various materials used in footwear manufacturing and prototyping
3D modeling software Rhino or Fusion 360
Research and development processes and methodologies for testing and refining footwear concepts
