Senior Data Engineer - NIKE, Inc. - Beaverton, OR. Develop action plans and processes, in coordination with management team, for integrating activities and optimizing department resources to meet major goals and objectives; facilitate and perform application support, problem solving, and issue resolution with internal and external resources, and contribute to and review recommendations for technical solutions; manage and contribute to the technical components of the RFP process and resolve issues and determine options for issue resolution and risk mitigation; define and communicate requirements for technical environments and determine the technical scope for projects, and provide technical estimates for project budget input to the senior/project manager; lead and own engagements with software vendors to ensure that code and configuration requirements and deliverables are met; enforce architecture, governance, security, and global process standards to system changes and deployments, and coordinate compliance issue identification and remediation; collaborate with other teams on integration needs/designs; contribute to database designs and create critical-path, high-risk, advanced technical designs; approve proof of concept efforts and review results; enforce NIKE and department architectural direction and ensure consistent technical approach within the department; decide on engineering tools based on recommendations; allocate resources based on performance monitoring and tuning results; manage and enforce performance thresholds and standards; review and approve performance test results, recommendations, and tuning results; and oversee the creation of test plans, test execution, and validation of test results. Telecommuting is available from anywhere in the U.S., except from AK, AL, AR, DE, HI, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MT, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, OH, OK, RI, SD, VT, WV, and WY. 

Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or Computer Information Systems and 5 years of experience in the job offered or computer related occupation. 
 
Position requires 5 years of experience in the following: 

  • Apache Spark 

  • Hive 

  • Python 

  • AWS 

  • Apache Airflow 

  • EMR 

  • Data structures and algorithms 

  • Automated Unit Testing 

  • CI/CD Process 

  • Building and maintaining Data Pipelines 

  • Hadoop 

 

Position requires 1 year of experience in the following: 

  • Databricks
