The annual base salary for this position ranges from $86,000.00 in our lowest geographic market to $169,500.00 in our highest geographic market. Actual salary will vary based on a candidate's location, qualifications, skills and experience.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

The Senior, Energy Footwear Color & Materials Designer works within a cross-functional Footwear Color & Materials team, partnering closely with Footwear Design, Product Management, Development, and Innovation. This team collaborates globally to deliver distinctive, performance-driven color and material solutions that elevate product storytelling and consumer connection.

The function plays a strategic role in defining the visual and material language of Energy Footwear, balancing performance, innovation, and cultural relevance. This role reports to a Color & Materials Design Director and works across internal teams and external partners to influence product direction at an expert level.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate is an expert-level Color & Materials Designer with deep experience in footwear, a strong point of view, and a refined understanding of how color, materials, and finish drive product expression and performance. They bring a strong passion for sport, energy franchises, and consumer culture, with the ability to translate insights and trends into compelling, ownable design solutions. This individual thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, demonstrates strategic thinking, and is comfortable leading through influence, mentorship, and craft excellence.

  • Open to work in LA or Portland
  • 3+ years of professional experience in footwear color, materials, or CMF design
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Color & Materials, Industrial Design, or a related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience, and training
  • Expert knowledge of color theory, material development, finishes, and footwear construction
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

You shape and drive the color and materials vision for Energy Footwear, creating impactful, performance-informed design solutions that resonate with athletes and consumers. You collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to ensure color and material strategies align with product intent, innovation goals, and seasonal narratives.

You lead the development of color and material concepts from early exploration through final execution, partnering with Footwear Designers, Developers, and Innovation teams to deliver cohesive product stories. You translate trend, cultural, and consumer insights into relevant design direction, guide material selection and finish decisions, mentor junior designers, and contribute to evolving Nike’s footwear color and materials design language.
