Who we are looking for
We are looking for a Senior Director, Color, Materials and Graphic Design for the Apparel and Footwear ACG Product team. In this role you will be accountable to build and define the future look of ACG through color, materials and graphics, and you will be leading the design team to implement and deliver a product strategy that combines Nike innovation and athlete insights into a cohesive Color, Materials and Graphics vision across the entire ACG consumer journey.
Candidates need to have a strong understanding of the Apparel and Footwear landscape across fashion, sportswear and fitness as well as market and consumer insights. Combined with experience operating as an enterprise leader of dynamic and diverse teams. They will need to be an expert in creative direction, trends, creative culture and technology, as well as have the knowledge of how to build Color, Materials and Graphic strategies and narratives and bring them to life for outdoor sport.
What you will work on
If this is you, you will collaboratively set creative direction with ACG concept and product design leaders, to define the seasonal and evergreen product vision and execution.
A given day can consist of setting the tone for the vision for the future of ACG, leading cross functional brainstorming sessions, inspiration travel, gathering athlete insights, or presenting your ideas to ACG and Nike leadership.
Your scope will have high complexity across teams, business, project, etc. requiring high profile communication of creative vision and brand direction to team and collaborators.
As part of managing a creative team, you will be responsible for the team’s overall efficiency, setting team and individual goals. You will also be responsible for performance management, pay, and resourcing decisions for direct and indirect reports.
You will collaborate and influence Design and Brand leadership, Product, Merchandising, and Development partners which will require you to have excellent influencing, negotiating, and prioritization skills.
Who you will work with
You will report to the ACG Creative Director who leads all aspects of the design for ACG business across Apparel, Footwear and Accessories.
You will work with Product Management, Athletes, Color and Materials Design Excellence, Apparel Footwear and Accessories Design, Product Development, Innovation, Insights, Merchandising, Manufacturing, Marketplace, Brand, Operations and Sustainability teams as your key partners.
What you will bring
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Design or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 12 years professional experience in product design
- Strong knowledge of fashion, design, design and youth culture, current and past.
- Expertise in all aspects of visual design
- Experience in creative strategy and narrative.
- Experience in product and manufacturing processes
- Experience managing other creatives as direct reports.
- Excellent verbal and visual communication skills; adept at presenting and defending creative ideas.
- Ability to take calculated risks to lead the brand into new territories
- Ability to work on multiple projects at all times
- Ability to think strategically about product relevance, product positioning, timing, and collections
- A positive mentality with proven ability to flex and adapt to changing business needs while maintaining creative quality.
