As our Senior Store Concept Designer, working under the direction of Store Design Director Greater China, you will lead the concepting of original retail concepts specifically for Greater China marketplace. From concept inception through to pilot door execution, as a store design lead, you will closely collaborate with internal cross functional and design support teams in this fast paced environment to create retail environments that meet the needs of local target consumers, and our business.
Accountabilities:
- Concept ideation and development based on marketing design briefs to bring to market new concepts, while managing tight timelines to ensure design deliverables
- Ideate engaging and innovative store environments that lead in the marketplace- inclusive of exterior facades, interior architecture, materials and details
- Be a design lead for fixture design team to co-develop and guide fixture design direction to integrate into overall store environment
- Work closely with cross functional counterparts, from retail concept team, retail marketing, concept experience, visual merchandising, product merchandising, procurement etc to meet their functional needs and objectives
- Create visual presentation decks that effectively communicate concept vision and goals, and present these design concepts to internal marketing teams and leadership functions both at a Greater China and Global level
- Lead projects for the elevation of existing retail concepts already in marketplace, based on changing needs of the business and consumer
Requirements for the position include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or Environmental Design and minimum of 10 years experience in retail design, in sportwear apparel and footwear industry
- Proven experience and excellence in both ideation and development of new retail concepts
- Proven ability to lead a team, and an excellent team player that collaborates effectively with functional partners
- Where external creative partners are used, extensive experience in working with external design agencies is a must, from initial briefing to periodic design reviews to leverage their best creative output
- Demonstrates exceptional ability to apply and perform design skills, including drawing/sketching, architectural/spatial design, ideation, use of materials, scale, visual presentation development and layout
- Knowledge of latest retail design trends both in China and globally, especially across the sportwear industry
- Ability to manage contractors/external vendors including creative and production agencies and architectural design consultants
- A proactive, flexible and resourceful mindset is required for this dynamic environment
- Experience in Retail Visual Merchandising, Visual Display, Retail Fixturing, Signage Programs for store, retail and/or tradeshow platforms
