WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? 

As a Brand Creative Senior Manager based in the Nike European Brand Creative Retail Design Studio, your role will be to deliver work that aligns with both the Retail Design Strategy and EMEA Brand Creative functional goals. Based in the Netherlands the work will be focused within EMEA geography.

You will be a senior creative member of the store design team reporting into the Store Design Director and Senior Design Director, creating innovative designs and leading the creative across a team of store designers.

Your key focus and responsibilities sit across Store Design, Coordination and Execution. Your design solutions will reflect Nike’s design ethos and enhance the consumer retail experience. Integrating and executing on design strategy you will provide appropriate business, design, consumer and cultural storytelling within the context and parameters necessary.

You will be creating design excellence and collaboration across multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring to deliver globally defining store design you must be a strong influencer.

You have a holistic understanding of macro business-driven project needs, while also leading the micro creative details of the project.

You ensure the design ambition is realized in collaboration with cost, construction, project management and Nike business.

You will lead a team of store designers across high profile projects, working closely with store construction, story design, layout planners and Nike Direct to deliver well-crafted and innovative retail design experiences.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

You will lead a Store Design team in in the delivery of a Flagship project and Lead the design development for other high-profile projects across the EMEA market.

Under the guidance of design playbooks and EMEA creative direction, you will be responsible to drive key project decisions, develop new design ideas and communicate to senior Leadership across the business.

You will approve samples and mock-ups from external vendors, monitor progress alongside vendors to validate design executions and solve on-site challenges and scenarios throughout the build phases.

You will leverage the design process and best practices to ensure design deliverables, timelines and budgets are met.

You will actively gain knowledge and experience regarding Nike’s design philosophy, products, and processes and be expected to have some level of understanding of Nike’s latest retail design work.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH? 

In strong collaboration with X-Functional Nike teams and external vendors you will work to develop aligned solutions with all stakeholders.

You will empower and guide the design team to deliver creative design development and develop the Global Design intent through the realities of the building.

You will be confident in clear communication and presentation to Senior Leadership.

The shape of your design work and your day-to-day leadership will vary significantly, and therefore your style and influence will have to adapt accordingly. But always it must be collaborative and intuitive, seeking new and innovative ways to maximize the effectiveness of individual as well as collective thinking.

WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE

  • Absolute respect, proactivity and deep appreciation for diversity and equality in the workplace. You must embody Nike’s culture and embrace the maxims that it stands for.

  • Extensive creative experience in retail and spatial design, with a strong focus on consumer brands; includes at least 3 years of leading teams.

  • Proven exceptional ability to apply and perform design skills, including drawing/sketching, 3D & interior design, ideation, color theory, use of texture, architectural knowledge, lighting, visual presentation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to apply these skills in innovative ways that elevate brand excellence, with a comprehensive knowledge of design processes.

  • Advanced knowledge of design computer software.

  • Ability to travel 30% within Europe.

  • Experience creating spaces, working with craftspeople to help bring an idea to life environmentally/spatially.

  • Knowledge and sensitivity to trends influencing design in general, and in architecture/3D design/environmental specifically

  • Exposure to, and in-depth understanding of consumer behavior and the EMEA retail marketplace

  • You will be analytically adept, but at the same time be able to distil the most complex situations down in a way that allows you to showcase your thinking in creative ways

  • Experience of collaborating effectively with other functions, departments and external stakeholders.

  • Great sense of judgment and decision-making. Emotionally intelligent with a growth mindset

  • Strong verbal and written communication in English & relationship management skills – the ability to work with EMEA/Global leadership team within the Nike brand management pipeline.

  • Strong supervisory skills with the passion to develop and coach your team

  • Great human and leadership skills that enable the team to flourish. This includes a strong ability to listen and empower the team rather than diminish it.

  • Experience working in and passionate about sport, the sports lifestyle and the culture around it.
