SENIOR MANAGER, CHEMICAL ENGINEER

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
This role is based in Vietnam, and it reports into a Footwear Manufacturing Engineering Director. This role will work collaboratively with external Footwear Manufacturing Partners, across the full Footwear Supply Chain organization, and with a highly matrixed organization across a variety of Nike internal and external partners with cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity. You are part of a global team committed to delivering excellence to our product teams and to consumers every day.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Senior Manager, Chemical Engineering is one of the keys to drive the FW Innovation, Product, Manufacturing and Product Excellence. You’ll collaborate with a diverse team of subject matter experts across various disciplines, and lead both your direct team and the broader Chemical Engineering and Product Testing network to successfully deliver key projects and strategic initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience; advanced degrees (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science) are a plus
Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience, including 4+ years in leading teams.
Experience in the footwear industry is preferred, candidates from adjacent industries (e.g., chemical vendors, manufacturing partners) are also considered.
Strong people leadership capability, with the ability to coach, develop, and inspire high-performing teams.
A strategic thinker who thrives in complex environments and knows how to build strong relationships across internal and external partners.
Excellent communication in English (written and verbal), with solid project and time management skills.
Comfortable with occasional travel (up to 10%) and flexible enough to work across global time zones.
Proven success in managing supplier/vendor relationships and representing brand interests in large organizations.
Ability to identify, assess, and manage risks and issues proactively.
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools and related business applications.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
You will help advance Nike’s mission to create world-class footwear by leading manufacturing and product excellence, while driving sustainable growth. Your work will align with global engineering strategies and deliver meaningful impact locally.
You will lead and support your team and the Footwear Manufacturing Engineering network to drive projects and initiatives in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
As a people manager, you will inspire and develop your team, fostering a culture of ownership, curiosity, and collaboration.
You will also partner with leadership to grow Chemical Engineering and Product Testing capabilities across the extended network.
You are expected to engage in meetings, workshops, vendor discussions, and strategic presentations with cross-functional teams across Innovation, Product Creation, Materials, and Sustainability.
You will collaborate with Global Chemical Engineering and Product Testing teammates and Factory partners and cross functional teams to drive initiatives, functional best practices, new chemistry and innovation in support of delivering Innovation, Product excellence.
Stay focused on weekly and seasonal priorities, while managing an annual engagement calendar with factory partners to meet short- and long-term goals.
