This posting is for the APLA Senior Merchant, Jordan, Energy, with strong marketplace and retail acumen, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and agile environment, and deep understanding of how to serve consumers through product line planning and assortment building.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You will report into Senior Director of Jordan Merchandising APLA. You will work closely with APLA Jordan cross-functional team, including Sales, Planning and Brand Marketing, APLA Nike merchandising team, as well as APLA Jordan Merchandising team, APLA Local Creation team, and other APLA cross-functional partners.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for self-driven individual with passion for consumer, fashion and niche subcultures. This role requires high level of verbal, written and visual communication, and ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional partners across large matrix organization.

This candidate should possess an understanding of Jordan consumer, Energy consumer at large, and marketplace landscape. Other important factors are solid retail and merchandising acumen, analytical skills, and deep understanding of retail environments and industry trends.

This role requires high ability to work autonomously, be agile and solution oriented. The key responsibility in this role is driving consumer product offering (product line plan) for the Jordan Energy product line End to End (from insights to adoption), as well as focusing on multi-season management for sustainable growth.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Product Creation, Business or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience, and training.
  • 5+ years of experience in Footwear, Apparel, Equipment, or relevant consumer product merchandising, product creation and/or retail in a vertical, multi-brand or digital environment 
  • Strong command of common retail and/or digital metrics such as sell-through, margin, full price realization, inventory, weeks of supply, etc.
  • Understanding and intuition for consumer insights and trends with the ability to translate it into clear strategies, product briefs and action plans
  • Strong product line management expertise and ability to build, lead and drive long-term product line plan strategy and assortment creation. Proven ability to translate consumer, sales, trend, and marketplace insights into in-season and long-term assortment strategies
  • Preparing seasonal tools to equip your marketplace partners with understanding of seasonal priorities
  • Experience developing strong working relationships with teammates and cross-functional partners locally and internationally
  • Strong verbal, written and visual communication skills and comfort navigating cross-functional organizational matrix with emphasis on influencing skills
  • Attention to detail, understanding the importance of consistency and process

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

The candidate will play a crucial role in understanding APLA Jordan consumer and business, generating insights to inform Global, Geo and Territory partners about product opportunities and needs, as well as curating and building Jordan product line for the Geo.

The candidate will build consumer-centric assortment plans for the full marketplace, blending fact-based and intuitive inputs to create segmentation and differentiation and drive long term sustainable growth for the Jordan brand.

  • Refined Curator. The goal of merchandising is to ensure we serve consumers with the right product, in the right place, at the right time. You will drive and execute assortment strategy end-to-end - from line plan brief to bringing to life at retail across all channels of distribution
  • Obsessed Consumerist and Insights Champion. You will gather consumer and marketplace insights and trends to inform future line plan, hyperlocal product opportunities, as well as in-season franchise management recommendations
  • Growth Architect. You will work directly with Global merchandising counterparts, Geo x-functional team and Territory merchandising team to drive Geo priorities, needs, opportunities and ensure Global team is equipped with insights to fulfill territory plan and land the product strategy that’s right for APLA
  • Devoted Brand Advocate. You will partner with a cross functional team to build a holistic strategy that combines product, sales and brand efforts to drive long term sustainable growth for the Jordan brand
  • Team player and connector. You will lead internal seasonal downloads to communicate and align seasonal strategies and priorities to your internal cross functional partners and support the team through seasonal process
  • Product Guru and Storyteller. You will lead seasonal product presentation cross-functional partners to guarantee the understanding of the strategic priorities within your seasonal plan as well as to capture business opportunities directly from them
