Nike Direct (ND) Merchandising is part of the Nike Merchandising Function.
Our role is to win with consumers through anchoring our strategies in the Consumer X Field of Play Offense. We obsess consumer, marketplace, competition, digital and store insights to serve our consumers’ needs, while driving the business today in tandem with a long-term growth direction. This can only be done through strong cross-functional work and partnership with the below teams.

In this role you must have a passion for product and an understanding of the consumer and how we serve them.
As you will be leading complex business areas, former work experience of retail buying/planning is a must for this candidate, and knowledge of assortment building/buying processes are required. You need to have a confirmed knowledge in retail acumen, strong communication skillset with a proactive approach in your daily and seasonal work.
You need to thrive working within a dynamic environment, which will require working on multiple seasons, across multiple Fields of Play, simultaneously while managing through ad-hoc requests. With this you need to know how to prioritise your workload and have a flexible mindset and ability, a strength in multi-tasking is required. Within this role, the candidate is expected to present their work to x-functional stakeholders, with this presentation skills are needed.
Requirements:
Able to demonstrate experience in / knowledge of Merchandising Fundamentals:
Assortment creation (stores) & product acumen- be able to create a balance product assortment, delivering on the consumer needs at the right product/time/place/price
Retail and financial acumen: understanding of retail KPI’s and how to read and react to sales data for ‘in the now’ trading and future assortment planning.
Consumer centric mindset & Consumer knowledge with an affiliation to sports
Experience in a multi-faceted/fast paced business area, encompassing Footwear, Apparel and Cross Gender experience
Strategic Thinking + strategic planning experience
Experience using and applying Merchandising visualization and database tools, online analytical dashboards, fluency in Office suite (Power-point and Excel focus)
Entrepreneurial spirit + enterprise thinking mindset
Collaborative Team player
Business + Stakeholder management & influencing skills (ability to work across multiple business areas + several different stakeholders)
Strong communication + presentation skills: verbal/written

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
We are looking for someone to inspire and serve our consumers by supporting the Nike Direct merchandising team in building a top class merchandising and product assortment/strategy for EMEA. This person is responsible for seasonal assortment creation within respective complexed business area’s, who oversees the process of driving and delivering on the Sports strategic direction in kids. Creating a Nike Direct omni-channel assortment that caters to both Nike Digital and Nike stores. This role will require close collaboration/influencing with the cross-functional team.
From a day-to-day perspective, the candidate accountability/focus will be on:
Building assortments from seasonal strategy to execution; showcase visually and reflect in assortment plan (excel and online tools); decide on product distribution and flow of product for Nike Direct.
Partner with respective merchandising counterparts to make sure we are driving a full head to toe offering for our consumers to deliver on the Kids Sports strategy.
Business management:
Pre-season: provide clear assortment direction to planning to jointly land a seasonal buy in support to drive a productive and profitable ND business whilst aligning to business/brand strategies. Present seasonal strategy/assortments for respective business portfolio during key CODE gates. Share plans with x-functional stakeholders to ensure seasonal assortment strategies is landing/brought to life in a strong and meaningful way.
In-season: with your x-functional counterparts optimize business results leveraging respective trade levers. Trade your respective business areas, attend trade meetings and leverage retail data to understand the performance of the business portfolio; read-and-react using data to drive informed decisions to optimize the business (present + future) and provide input on monthly or quarterly business re-caps.
Future Seasons: Provide geo consumer insights to relevant stakeholders + influencing future line plan needs for the ND consumer.
Stakeholder management:Support the ND merchandising team on Merchandising seasonal deliverables to ensure delivery of your merchandising plan with x-functional partners, to bring the merchandising vision to life in the ND channels.
Close collaboration with the other Gender Merchants, to drive strong kids’ integration
Works closely with your merchandising leader and team to provide relevant consumer insights and product opportunities that can be integrated in future line planning.
