WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
Nike is a highly collaborative environment, and the role is part of a team of HR professionals and business stakeholders. You will report to the People Solutions Director for the region and will coach and consult with people managers across South Africa (corporate and store-based teams). You will partner closely with the EMEA HQ People Solutions organization and Centers of Expertise to implement programs, ensure local requirements are represented, and leverage specialist expertise. You will also collaborate with People Solutions Consulting colleagues across regions to share insights, best practices, and continuous improvements. In this role, you will build and manage key stakeholder relationships across retail and corporate teams, ensuring the needs of teammates and business priorities are effectively represented.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Nike is looking for an experienced, solution-oriented HR professional to support teammates in South Africa, based in the Johannesburg office.
This role plays a critical part in shaping the overall teammate experience in the region. It delivers expertise and solutions across a wide range of complex HR topics and provides high-quality HR support to both retail stores and corporate teams, in close partnership with business leaders, HR teams, and EMEA Headquarters.
The successful candidate is a proactive problem solver who develops scalable, practical solutions that meet organizational needs. They build strong, trust-based relationships with stakeholders and use deep HR expertise to elevate the teammate experience while continuously seeking opportunities to improve.
• Demonstrable high-volume HR case management experience
• Experience in a dynamic retail environment is advantageous
• Strong understanding of a broad range of HR processes, policies, and practices, with experience implementing them effectively
• Knowledge of local regulatory requirements and key employment law principles
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to prioritize effectively and balance attention to detail with pace
• Proven ability to build effective cross-functional relationships and collaborate successfully
• Experience with ServiceNow and Workday is advantageous
• Solid understanding of HR policies, practices, procedures, and their interdependencies
• Strong operational and functional HR knowledge with the ability to execute both routine and complex processes
• Uses technology to improve, streamline, and automate activities; advanced Workday knowledge is a plus
• Consistently balances speed with accuracy and quality
• Demonstrates strong customer focus across a diverse business audience
• Applies project management discipline to coordinate with specialists and functional experts to deliver effective outcomes
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
If this is you, you will play a key role in the Nike South Africa team while leveraging strong partnerships and expertise across global and EMEA HQ teams. You will be part of an organization with a strong, people-focused culture and contribute to an ongoing HR transformation as Nike evolves its operating model to scale impact and drive excellence.
On a day-to-day basis, you will resolve a wide range of HR matters in partnership with business stakeholders and Nike HR Centers of Expertise. You will provide expert, consultative support and coaching across key HR areas, including employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, training, DEI, and legal and regulatory topics.
You will use technology (ServiceNow and Workday) to manage cases effectively and generate insights that support informed decision-making for the teammate population.
You will lead high-impact HR projects within the region and use your local expertise to proactively identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and implement best practices.
