WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

The Senior Principal, Engagement, Global Sustainability is responsible for developing and executing internal and external engagement strategies against NIKE’s key sustainability pillars.

You will work internally with leaders across key partner functions including Legal, Communications, Public Affairs and Brand teams to deliver sustainability focused positions, platforms and campaigns that engage our employees, consumers, industry, and other sectors. Externally, you will collaborate closely with key stakeholders including industry coalitions and non-governmental organizations to represent and drive NIKE’s sustainability priorities.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Leadership, relationship-building, and high-level influencing skills are key to the role, as is the ability to mobilize partnerships and convene at a high-level. Subject matter expertise in sustainability (social and environmental) is critical to your success in this role. Significant experience leading industry coalitions is important, in addition to familiarity with the landscape of sustainability leadership and investment is also required.

Many of the challenges we seek to address in sustainability are sophisticated and beyond the scope of one brand or company. As a leader, you listen and find ways to build consensus. As well as being a creative problem solver, you have an awareness of how consumers understand global, social and political issues, particularly sustainability related views. You are a skilled communicator with outstanding political acuity and able to negotiate and lead issues and challenges to resolution.

WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sustainability, or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training.

  • A minimum of 10+ years demonstrated experience in sustainability

  • Excellent verbal, written and intrapersonal communications skills and consistent track record to lead high profile projects in global environment to deliver results

  • Stakeholder engagement experience with a focus on managing labor and environmental issues, positions and trends

  • Experience leading change with large global brands and /or organizations

  • A collaborative mindset; Ability to develop 360 partner and relationship plans and drive successful activation

  • Strong Influencer skills, and excellent writing and presentation skills; inspiring and innovative storyteller with expertise in writing and content creation for a variety of audiences and engagement goals

  • Experience presenting to and working with senior executives to provide strategic counsel, clearly articulate ideas, successfully manage differing points of view and strengthen relationships and rapport

  • Experience with global campaigns for internal and external audiences

  • Proven track record of crafting and executing business strategies

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

You’ll be responsible for guiding our strategic partnerships and engagement strategy with key stakeholders to ensure a high level of alignment and collaboration.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and lead highly innovative and targeted sustainability strategies and positions that engage employees, consumers, and our industry; with short, medium, and long-term critical metrics that deliver measurable change.

  • Establish and drive key partnerships and industry coalitions required to deliver enterprise-wide sustainability priorities

  • Identify, cultivate and maintain relationships with industry specialists, non-governmental organizations and academics to identify opportunities to enhance partnerships that align with NIKE goals

  • Drive strategic discussions with key stakeholders (internally and externally) across a range of topics including sustainable materials, circularity, renewable energy, social compliance and human rights

  • Partner with cross-functional partners (Brand, Legal, Communications) to drive sustainability priorities as part of brand defining moments (e.g. World Cup, Olympics)
