WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
Based in Berlin, this role sits within Nike’s German Communications team and partners closely with colleagues across EMEA. The Sr. Professional, Media Relations works side by side with local and EMEA Communications, Marketing, Sports Marketing, and Sales teams to shape powerful storytelling that inspires consumers and athletes. This role reports directly to the Communications Director, Germany, and collaborates with creators, media partners, and the country leadership team.
 

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Nike is seeking a Sr. Professional, Media Relations (all genders) with deep expertise in communications and an exceptional understanding of the German media landscape. This person understands how sport influences culture, style, and communities and brings proven expertise in identifying and shaping trends through the lens of sport and style. This individual creates storytelling-led impact that resonates with Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences. Strategic, collaborative, and agile, this candidate is a natural storyteller with a strong point of view and the ability to guide partners at all levels, internally and externally. This person proactively identifies opportunities, builds meaningful relationships, and elevates narratives that resonate with athletes, consumers, and employees. Curiosity, creativity, and a growth mindset are essential. A strong understanding of and passion for the sportswear industry, the look of sports and expertise in running.
 

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in communications or public relations for major sports or global organizations
  • Strong senior-level media network in Germany across traditional, social, and vertical outlets
  • Deep understanding of evolving social and sports platforms, tools, and technologies, especially those that connect with Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences
  • Subject matter expertise at the intersection of sport, athletes, style, and culture through the lens of sportswear and running
  • Proven track record of creating and executing strategic communications plans that drive narrative-led storytelling
  • Expertise in managing executive-level stakeholders
  • Strong end-to-end project management skills, including planning, creative development, execution, budgeting, and agency management

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
You will develop and deliver communications strategies that strengthen Nike’s leadership in sport externally and translate key messages effectively for employees. You will fuel brand energy through culture, style, and storytelling. You will elevate Nike’s voice in the German market and build authentic, meaningful connections with the consumers and communities Nike serves.

In this role, you will:

  • Craft and execute Germany-specific mid- and long-term communications strategies focused on the intersection of sport, athletes, style, and culture
  • Lead sport- and culture-driven communication moments and campaigns, managing all phases from concept to execution
  • Build, nurture, and leverage a sophisticated media and creator network to amplify Nike’s narrative
  • Identify and activate new opportunities at the intersection of sport, culture, and style
  • Build media ecosystems that connect authentically with the next generation of athletes and creators
  • Present strategies confidently and navigate complex stakeholder environments to champion the value and impact of Communications
  • Manage critical issues with clarity and composure to protect and strengthen brand and corporate reputation
  • Consult the country leadership team on impactful employee communications strategies and execute employee-first activations, such as All Team Meetings, sport days, and other engagement initiatives
