WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
You will join Nike's Global Technology organization as part of the Communications Technology squad within the Digital Employee Experience (DEE) engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will work closely with a team of engineers, collaborating with senior and principal engineers who will support your growth and development. You will also engage with the team's Product Manager and partner with other Global Technology teams on organizational and technical objectives. DEE supports Comms, Sensing, the Department of Nike Archives, Legal, Resilience, Security, Global Places and Services, and more.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a Software Engineer 1 to join the Global Technology Corporate Functions (CF) Digital Employee Experience (DEE) team. You are an engineer with hands-on professional experience who is ready to contribute from day one and continue growing your craft alongside a high-performing team. You are dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working within defined scope while developing the skills and confidence to take on increasingly complex work over time. The person in this role will be a collaborative team player with solid technical fundamentals, strong problem-solving skills, and a genuine passion for building reliable, quality software.
Positive attitude, growth mindset, and strong technical and non-technical communication skills are a must-have
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience, and training.
1-3 years of professional software development experience
Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript and working experience with front-end frameworks such as React
Experience building or consuming REST APIs and developing back-end services, preferably in Node.js
Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly AWS services such as Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB
Experience with version control using Git and GitHub in a team environment
Familiarity with modern testing frameworks such as Jest, Mocha, or Jasmine
Understanding of software architectural design patterns and computer science fundamentals
Experience working in agile or scrum-based development environments
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with peers and cross-functional partners
Preferred qualifications:
Experience with cloud architecture, DevOps practices, infrastructure as code, or CI/CD tooling
Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker or Kubernetes
Experience with implementing or integrating AI and machine learning solutions
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
In this role, you will contribute to the development, maintenance, and production operations of Nike's internal Digital Employee Experience platforms. You will work within a cross-functional engineering team to deliver software features, support system stability, and help improve the quality and reliability of our services.
Implement well-scoped features and bug fixes across front-end and back-end services built on Node.js, React, and AWS
Monitor and triage production issues, investigate root causes, and resolve incidents with appropriate escalation when needed
Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and application reliability
Build and consume REST APIs in Node.js following established team standards and patterns
Support deployment activities and contribute to CI/CD pipeline maintenance using GitHub Actions and Jenkins
Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback
Document technical work, issue resolutions, and API specifications to support team knowledge sharing
Engage in sprint ceremonies, agile team rituals, and architecture discussions as a contributing team member
