WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Nike is seeking a strategic, decisive, and globally experienced communications leader to serve as Senior Director, Corporate Issues & Reputation Management. This individual will be responsible for anticipating, identifying, and mitigating reputational risks while shaping Nike’s external narrative. The ideal candidate thrives in high-pressure environments, brings deep expertise in crisis and issues management, and has a proven track record of advising senior leadership. They are a skilled communicator, a trusted counselor, and a collaborative team builder who can lead with clarity and confidence across complex, cross-functional landscapes.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
The Senior Director, Corporate Issues & Relationship Management will drive development and implementation of comprehensive corporate issues management strategies to anticipate, identify and respond to emerging impacting Nike Inc’s corporate reputation as well as establish clear strategy, process and responsibilities. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Crisis management: developing and executing communications plans around how to respond to crises, such as product recalls, operational failures or other negative events. This includes creating clear messaging, talking points, QAs and a POV on designated communication channels for relevant messaging.
  • Risk and issues monitoring: proactively identify potential issues that could damage the company’s reputation in partnership with the Nike Intelligence Center and cross-functional partners.
  • Media relations: help to shape the external narrative to ensure accurate reporting. Partner closely with Senior Director of Corporate Media Relations on messaging and approach.
  • Reputation building: strategically create and distribute positive content in partnership with the Brand and Geo teams to further build Nike’s reputation
  • Stakeholder communication: develop and execute communication plans for internal and external stakeholders to ensure message consistency
  • Strategic counsel: advise senior leaders on reputation and how to best respond to situations to protect the company’s interests
  • Lead a team, develop talent and work cross functionally and collaboratively to deliver the best results

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
This role partners closely with Nike’s Communications Leadership Team and collaborates across Global, North America, and Geography Communications—including Asia Pacific Latin America, Greater China, and EMEA. You’ll work cross-functionally with Media Relations, Corporate, Finance, HR, Executive, and Brand Communications, as well as Legal, Government & Public Affairs, Resilience, Security, and Ethics & Compliance teams. External partnerships include agency partners and media.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Media Relations, Communications, Business or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in Communications, Media Relations and driving strategic corporate communications plans
  • Demonstrated experience as a people leader, talent development and coaching
  • Global communications experience and perspective, understanding and acumen
  • Demonstrated experience managing crises and issues in a high-profile, fast paced environment
  • Media relations and spokesperson experience
  • Experience partnering and collaborating with cross-functional teams including Legal
  • Experience managing highly confidential, sensitive enterprise information
