WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We’re looking for a Technical Design Manager to join the Running team. In this role, you will be both a player and a coach, owning some complex product and managing a team of Technical Designers. You will guide the apparel creation process to ensure timely commercialization and best-in-class product. We are looking for someone with strong leadership and coaching abilities, positive attitude and a team-oriented mentality.
WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?
As a Technical Design Manager, you will help execute global development strategy to dimensional strategies. You will also partner with cross functional counterparts to establish best practices and digital product creation process alignment. We want you to guide your team throughout the product creation process, lending your expertise while supervising progress and be a resource to your team. You will lead and influence calendar, manage overarching changes and exceptions. A typical day/week includes leading your team meetings and being a resource for your Technical Designers, whilst managing your own style count. You will attend meetings with cross-functional partners and provide clear communication to guide the team through critical checkpoints. You will balance leading short-term target dates whilst supporting long-term strategy. As a manager you will actively encourage diversity, professional growth, inclusion and collaboration within the team and the larger apparel team.
WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?
You will partner closely with Product Design, Graphic Design, Product Management, Product Creation Centers (Asia based), Wear Testing, Materials and Product Integrity on all aspects of apparel creation to service athletes and the everyday consumer. This role will report to the Technical Design Director.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING?
- Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design, Pattern Making, Textile Science or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training
- 8+ years' apparel development experience or relevant combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of the apparel development process from inception through production, including but not limited to pattern making, grading, construction, costing, manufacturing, print techniques, embroidery, materials and machinery
- Ability to act as a technical resource, manage the team and lead initiatives through high energy and positive influence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to excel in a deadline driven environment and bring things to resolution.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills with attention to detail and process orientation.
- Proven ability to lead, influence, and work across the organization.
- Experience managing a team is preferred.
- Knowledge of MS Office programs and confident using Adobe Illustrator. Experience and working knowledge of CLO/Browzwear/Lotta or 3D apparel development software
- Ability to travel 10% (domestic and international)
