WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

In this role, you'll collaborate with various stakeholders, including test engineers, product innovators, developers, and lab and factory partners. You'll help teams understand product attributes and performance to advance innovation at Nike. Providing technical input to the Product Innovation, Technical Design, Development, Materials, and Product Management teams will be key in this role. Primarily based in our Accessories Innovation Lab, you'll also attend weekly meetings at Nike WHQ in Beaverton.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a candidate with experience or strong proficiency in working within a physical test laboratory environment. The ideal Test Engineer II will be highly motivated and have interest in conducting tests and developing new testing methodologies that contribute to the creation of products designed to enable athletes to perform at their highest potential. This position requires a combination of expertise in lab-based product testing, data analysis, and effective communication to deliver critical insights throughout the product design and development process.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, experience and training

  • A minimum of 2 years directly relevant work experience

  • Preferred degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Product Creation, Product Testing, Development, or a related field

  • Personal time management skills, working with various stakeholders with competing priorities

  • Experience following established procedures to perform a variety of routine lab tests and technical support

  • Basic knowledge of sporting goods construction, tooling, pattern engineering and manufacturing processes preferred

  • Some experience with physical product and materials testing is required

  • Experience with statistical analysis of data desired

  • Strong creative problem-solving skills

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, sketches and/or 3D digital files 

  • Digital literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, Miro Board, spreadsheets, database management, and proficiency with 2D/3D CAD/CAM tools, and engineering software, is a plus

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills 

  • Ability to travel internationally up to 10%, as needed

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

As a Test Engineer II, you will be responsible for testing, analysing data, and gaining a comprehensive understanding of the products developed by our team. We work on a diverse range of accessories, including global football products, socks, headwear, and bags, among others. Your role will involve quantifying the performance of these products. You will split your time between conducting standard tests established by the industry or our laboratory and designing and implementing new testing capabilities.

  • Running and tracking a variety of current tests on equipment and soft goods

  • Understanding what contributes to product performance and suggesting appropriate test methods to quantify performance

  • Organizing and communicating the test data with partners across Nike Accessories and Innovation teams

  • Ability to break down complex data into layman’s terms

  • Some basic understanding of how sporting goods and soft goods products are made
