WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
The role reports to the Senior Director of Jordan NA Merchandising and will manage a team of Nike Direct Digital and Stores merchants x-Sport and x-Business Units of Footwear, Apparel and Accessories, across multiple levels. You will also support the Senior Director of Jordan NA Nike Direct. You will work in a highly matrixed organization and partner heavily with x-Functional Nike Direct partners, x-Sport Jordan NA Merchandising teams and Nike NA Direct partners.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Jordan Direct Merchandising Director is accountable for serving the Jordan Direct consumer across Physical & Digital channels, enabling long-term strategic growth of the Jordan Brand and meet or exceed sales, margin, and other business targets. The Director is responsible for the product portfolio and merchandising strategies for Owned Channels, adopting Global Strategy/strategic intent to be Geo & Jordan Direct-consumer right and support achieving Financial Targets & long-term strategic growth of new & diverse product offerings. They will drive franchise health across owned channels through effective assort, buy, and trade decisions and will influence retail marketing to bring the assortments to life and support seasonal investment strategies.
The Director communicates business performance and opportunities, consumer trends, & competitive landscape with cross functional teams & Consumer merchandising to inform line plan decisions (incl. GEL & T-100). They will obsess & know the Jordan Direct Consumer: Be connected to the consumer, culture, and fashion trends to inform assortment curation and anticipate product opportunities; understand the competitive landscape and product architecture of both competitors & aspirational brands – share these insights X-Sport teams and cross-functional partners. This role executes seasonal readiness, delivers CODE calendar, & systems expert. They will connect with Global Jordan Direct Merchandising team to ensure alignment and elevation of North America priorities leading the merchandising strategy for Jordan Footwear and Apparel inclusive of financial strategies, key franchise management, line planning, and leading a diverse Geo Merch team. The candidate needs to possess extensive merchandising and retail experience, as well as expert level business and product acumen. Ideal candidate should be a strategic thinker with experience successfully creating, socializing, and leading others to execute against strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in Merchandising or a related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training
- 10+ years of experience in merchandising and/or retail buying.
- Footwear, apparel and/or equipment merchandising experience
- Management Experience
- Consumer Industry and Insights Competence
- Strong Retail Acumen
- Ability to translate Insights and Retail Results into Actionable Strategies and Plans
- Experience developing and implementing Product Strategy
- Experience in multi-season Assortment Planning and Pricing

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
As a key member of the Jordan North America Merchandising Leadership team, you will bring a long-term lifestyle footwear and apparel vision to life via Consumer-led Product Plans and Assortment strategies. You will lead your team through the key moments of line planning, merchandising assortment review, and Geo merchandising handover to Sales. You will maintain direct feedback loops with the Geo Marketplace and Nike Direct Merchandising and Global Merchandising leaders to ensure Geo input is incorporated at each key moment.
YOUR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:
Line Planning
- Influence x-Sport Merch teams on future line planning, delivering specific Nike Direct consumer needs.
Own the Assortment Curation
- Deliver seasonal, holistic, consumer-right assortment strategy & framework and develop detailed assortments by Channel based in art of merchandising and science of data inputs.
- Partner with DSM on buys for Owned Channels, including planning targeted demand served for Launches
- Influence and partner with Geo CFoP Merchandising teams on multi-season product assortment capacity and strategies that meet the needs of Jordan Direct Consumer
- Drive adoption of Lead/Play/Adopt assortments and influence refinement opportunities to serve Jordan Direct consumer needs
- Connect early and often with Brand Marketing to ensure Brand Investment & plans against products that target Jordan Direct Consumer
Trading the Business
- Drive in-season business results to achieve KPI’s, plan and strategy; leverage weekly business results, mid-sighting/hind-sighting, and marketplace trends to inform x-Sport Teams, influence North America Consumer Merchandising and North America Brand / Brand Planning.
- Drive a clear and strategically aligned Geo Buy process, in partnership with DSM, for across NDDC
- Lead NDDC weekly and monthly Business Review (WBR) and comprehensive seasonal hindsight. sharing style performance and discuss which styles are driving beats & misses to forecast / plan and why, providing assortment context; partner with site experience & Marketing
- Integrate product performance and insights into MBR & QBR by leveraging weekly and monthly business reviews
- Align with DSM on excess inventory movement within NDDC via pricing and promotional levers and to Unite
- Identify and elevate cross-gender opportunities and ensure execution is cohesive across franchises and classifications

- Inspires excellence across cross-functional teams through partnership and collaboration, managing and leading through change
