WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
As the Lead Merchant within the Global Basketball, you will be focused on the growth and franchise management of our Signature Athlete Basketball Footwear businesses. You will report into the Global Merchandising Director of Basketball footwear, and collaborate closely with the Basketball Footwear Product team, Geography Merchants, Nike Direct, and Athlete Business Directors – as well as cross-functional partners including Demand Planning and Brand. This role is embedded within a dynamic, inclusive, and consumer-focused team that values collaboration and excellence through line-planning and assortment building.

We are seeking a self-driven individual with a passion for consumer and Sport geared towards making a positive impact on our Signature Athlete businesses. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and exudes strong communication and influential skills rooted in a high-level of retail and merchandising acumen. This individual should also comfortable working autonomously while being solution oriented and presenting within Leadership settings as this is a high-visibility role.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing, or a combination of relevant experience
- 5+ years of experience in Retail, Merchandising, Product Management, Marketplace, Buying, or relevant experience
- Demonstrated understanding of consumer and marketplace
- Proficiency in analyzing business and consumer trends
- Attention to detail
- Entrepreneurial spirit, experience working on new projects/concepts/ideas
- Ability to collaboratively manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
You will enable the strategizing, building, and managing of global 3-year line plans and product journeys focused on Signature Basketball Athletes.
A consistent part of your day-to-day responsibilities will be the detailed management, maintenance and communication of all seasonal tools and assortments. Enabling this effort will be the development of key relationships among cross-functional teammates, comfort with research and analysis, along with a genuine curiosity and commitment to learn and evolve.
A key component of this role is the franchise management against some of our biggest Basketball Athletes and the scenario planning of the respective footwear franchises. This role is considered high-visibility, and this candidate will be asked to represent our top footwear franchises at a high-level.
