Nike seeks a Story & Experience Designer for seasonal retail and offline experience: An innovator who will support consumer-led retail concepts and in real life experience. A creative, collaborative senior designer who will develop impactful / scalable design solutions for immersive retail environments and experiences. Always looking to expand the possibilities of immersive environments to create design solutions that reflect Nike’s brand standards and improve the consumer retail and in real life experience.
You have a track record of innovative use of emerging technology to build impactful spaces, consumer engagement and interaction. You can work across several design subject areas such as environmental graphic design, fixtures, materials and digital with ease. You ideate creative concepts, illustrate your ideas, while also enjoying hands-on involvement and collaborating with internal teams and external agencies to complete projects.
What you will work on
• Execute seasonal design work streams as part of larger campaign projects; collaborate closely with design leadership, teammates and cross-functional partners.
• Translate brand priorities and sport moments into integrated seasonal activations that deliver physical, digital and hybrid experiences.
• Support a design process of clear ideation focusing on exploration of color, materiality, texture, spacing, proportion, scale and use of the environment.
• Collaborate with producers, design counterparts (both Global and Geo), internal partners (Sports Creative, Retail Brand, City Brand, Retail Production etc.) and external partners to ensure feasibility of designs and functional needs are met.
• Responsible for the execution of design and innovation across seasonal retail, live events, digital, and hybrid experiences.
• Develop presentation materials that effectively communicate design concepts to all levels of leadership and partners.
• Constantly seek new and innovative ways to tell stories through graphics, styling, lighting, sculpture, photography, video, animation and more.
• Contribute to education and inspiration, sharing knowledge and exposure to current and future trends influencing the innovation of consumer experiences and technology.
• Collaborate with the team, lead small to medium-sized projects, and work with the lead designer to complete large projects and achieve the expected goals.
Who You Will Work With
You will partnering closely with the Greater China Sports Studio Creative team, Retail Brand team, Store Concepts team, City Brand team and agency partners to deliver world class seasonal Brand Experiences with innovative thinking and an obsession for immersive storytelling and experiential design. Under the direction of a Sr. Creative Director and collaborate with Lead Designer and projects teams in shaping seasonal campaigns and activations across pop-ups, retail, live events, digital, and hybrid experiences that connect emotionally with athletes* and provoke engagement with the Brand. You will collaborate with internal and external design teams to complete multiple projects and ensure the creative intent, design results, timelines and budgets are met.
What You Bring
• Minimum of 5+ years of progressive, technically sophisticated design experience in space design, experiential design or brand design and a demonstrated ability to apply these skills in ways that elevate brand excellence.
• Bachelors/master’s degree in graphic design, architecture, industrial design, environmental design, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Adept at applying and performing design skills including concepting, ideation, drawing/sketching, typography, color theory, texture, spatial design in scale, visual presentation development and space planning layouts.
• Strong knowledge of current trends in color, graphic design, art, photography, architecture and experience design — and their application to the sport industry. • Strong knowledge of production design, fabrication, materiality, and emerging manufacturing trends.
• Delivers high-quality design and experiential outputs with speed and accuracy. • Expanding expertise in the discipline, innovative mindset, and a high attention to detail.
• Works seamlessly with team members and external partners; contributes positively to team culture.
• Clearly presents and articulates ideas and design solutions in reviews.
• Proactively explores new ideas and methods, even within smaller work streams.
