WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
This position is an integral part of Responsible Supply Chain (RSC) Team for Taiwan and Korea. The role is based in Taipei, Taiwan and reports to the Director, Responsible Supply Chain, in Taiwan. In your day to day you will be actively working with the following key stakeholders: Nike Responsible Supply Chain teams (Regional & World Headquarters), Nike partner managers, manufacturing partner and supplier leaders in the country or in related countries, other regional Risk and Issues Management/Compliance teams, RSC consultants (Health & Safety, HRM, Waste & Water, Energy & Carbon), Government and Public Affair, legal, engineering teams, relevant external stakeholders; and other related groups.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a Sr. Risk & Issues Officer to be based in Taipei, Taiwan. This role will define standard ways to landscape, prioritize and monitor local risks that may impact our manufacturing and logistics source-base’s ability to operate in a responsible and sustainable way, and ensure Nike’s suppliers and partners meet and maintain foundational expectations across our supply chain.
This is an individual contributor role. The coverage of this role is Taiwan and Korea.
The successful candidate must be able to think strategically and translate strategies into action with clear and aligned plans. Maintain clarity and drives accountabilities throughout course of planning and execution of strategy. Communicate a vision and motivate others into action. Enjoy driving organizational change. They will also be a trusted leader who fosters teamwork and develops others.
Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree in sustainability or business related field preferred, and 5+ years professional experience in sustainability & compliance field
Experience in project management, audit management, risk management. Candidates with experience in sustainability programs (Health & Safety, Environmental, Human Resource Management) is preferred.
Ability to use different sources of information to understand and assess risks, translating complex information into simple but relevant insights
Experience leading and motivating teams with a clear strategy, aligned plans and value-add deliverables.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, tailoring communications appropriately.
Experience working across diverse groups and good judgment in managing interactions with individuals at all levels in and out of the organization.
Ability to travel domestic or overseas for business purpose approx. 10% of the time.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
In this role, your key responsibility is to define and drive the proactive Risk and Issues Management strategy at country level; engage with cross functional teams to drive programs that help our source-base meet our compliance expectations; build strong stakeholder relationships in country with relevant NGOs, government entities, industry associations, etc. You will support key strategic initiatives on compliance and risk management topics including Nike standards and country regulations.
On any given day, you will
Manage regional level risks/issues and factory lifecycle processes; inclusive of and not limited to coordinating development and execution of risk mitigation plans
Drive regional capability building to support long term compliance performance
Drive projects to build a sustained proactive risk and issues management process and capability in the region
Function as consultant to provide expertise on enterprise compliance programs and proactive risk management.
Communicate and engage with relevant internal and external stakeholders to: enable risk assessments, risk prioritization, and development of mitigation plans that are aligned to WHQ RSC overall risk strategies.
Identify country and company risks based on 3rd party consultation, audit results, incident reports, independent studies, etc. covering below topics (but not limited to):
Health & Safety – factory infrastructure risks and workers’ health and safety risks
Human Resource Management – labor scarcity, labor unrest, migrant workers
Waste & Water – flood/drought, hazardous waste, contamination and pollution
Climate – energy crisis/power outage, excessive temperatures, extreme weather events
Country risk – new government regulations that might impact manufacturing operations
You will also support the Taiwan/Korea RSC Director at country level engagement. This work will encompass, but not limited to:
Supplier partner management, strategy alignment & coaching to execute NIKE Global Sustainability and Compliance strategies and initiatives.
